Our Story
The Sleeping Swallow began with a simple idea: baby gifts should feel as special as the little person receiving them.
As a mama myself, I know how quickly our homes fill with baby things—and how surprisingly few of them we want to keep. I wanted to create something different from the printed polyester blankets and mass-produced gifts we see everywhere: something personal, beautifully made, and sturdy enough to follow a child beyond the nursery years.
We began as a tiny Etsy shop, creating personalized pieces one order at a time. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of making gifts for thousands of families around the world. Behind every order is a name, a new baby, a baptism, a first Christmas, a grandchild being welcomed—and we never want to lose sight of that.
Today, The Sleeping Swallow has its own little home, but the heart behind it hasn’t changed. Our woven blankets are made from 100% cotton in the USA by a specialized weaving company we chose for the quality of its craftsmanship. We create each design with the hope that it won’t simply be another baby blanket, but one of the few things you fold away and keep.
